We Have Reached Critical Mass

The Administrator waiting to have a binding key fixed

Beautiful Continental spotted at Mesa Typewriter Exchange - SHINY!

New shelves, a few of the new machines

Bad picture of the old shelves in a new location with some old and some new machines. (Say that three times fast)

My next big project

  1. A Royal Administrator! Not sure if you're familiar with the origin, but it would be a wide-carriage version of the Royal Diana made in Netherlands.

    1. Hey Nick, It certainly looks like a wide-carriage version of the Diana. But , if memory serves, this one was manufactured in Hamburg. I know it was Germany, I'll have to double-check when I get it back.

    2. Thanks to Richards post I know it was Mannheim. I hope someone stumbles onto documentation for this strange bird. I'd be interested to know how many were made.

    3. I'd heard of them manufactured both in Germany and in Holland...the two I've owned both came from Holland though!

    4. I guess I need a Dutch version to go with my Deutsch version!

  2. Very nice typewriters and storage shelves. I'd love to have room for a Royal Administer. Those are wonderful typewriters.

No, you have not reached your limit. There is always just one more typewriter. I know from experience. I've been no-more-typewriters for the past 10 months of 2012 and find I have gotten at least one a month. Wife is not happy.

    1. You know - I think I write that stuff as a way of trying to convince myself it's time to lay back a little. I could line ALL the walls with exotic machines. Mrs. Keysnap is pretty tolerant and might go along for a while. But I think I'll try to stick to around 20. I'll keep hunting for the few must haves. Who knows, I might make an exception or 20 along the way...

    1. Thanks Richard. I'll definitely include a link when I do the main write up. Seems like it's fairly rare. Makes sense to include links to the few articles about it.

  4. "I'm very happy with the machines I have now". Uh huh - that's what we all say until we come upon the next "gotta have"! Nice shelves, BTW.

Nice write up. Mind you, I have never seen a 'Royal Administrator' in person!

    1. Haha! I just pictured a gent with a pointy beard, pantaloons and a feathered cap taking inventory with a quill pen! "Has the Royal Administrator completed his inventory?"

  6. I see some space for more shelves... What about above the 'old one', horizontal of course.
